I love Elmhurst milks, however this was a real disappointment. I’ve made this 3 times now. The first time I messed up my ice cream maker instructions and put the mix in the freezer for too long. The next time I followed the instructions. The third time I didn’t put the mixture in the freezer at all I just poured the refrigerated mix into the maker. The second and third times the mixture churned properly in the ice cream maker. The second time the mixture was icy, the third time it was smooth. That said, the taste wasn’t good, the ice cream left an oily residue in my mouth and as it melted in the bowl it looked like oil. And just for reference, I’ve had soft serve oat milk ice cream before and loved it. This just wasn’t good. I’ve tried every dairy free ice cream I can find and thus was the worst.
I love ice cream and make it a lot at home. I was excited to try a non dairy mix but I think the mix completely separated and I couldn’t get it to re-emulsify with shaking or out of the box. The end result was a weird texture and it also melted almost instantly upon putting it into a glass. Flavor was fine - very strong oat milk taste. Just ended up a soupy mess in my glass.
I just want to say all negative remarks should be checked under the faq section on this site. Elmhurst has taken the time to explain why each ingredient is used. This is an ALTERNATIVE ice cream. While I can understand requesting a sugar free version .. I wish people would choose there words in a little nicer manner in asking questions. Thank you Elmhurst for this plant based quick making fun ice cream alternative.
I had this at a party and it was excellent. Lots of trolls are on here triggered that a dessert contains sugar and fat, including oil. They should leave this vegan upstart alone. I’m sure that they don’t leave complaints on websites of McDonalds, Dairy Queen, etc.
